Block Institute's Article 16 Clinic is dedicated to facilitating the habilitative and rehabilitative growth of individuals who are cognitively, physically, emotionally, and/or developmentally impaired. We do this through the direct delivery of social work and clinical services. Services can be provided in an individual’s home, an OPWDD certified residence, at the day program, at the work site, or at our two clinic locations in Brooklyn. Our clinical services include: Physiatry/Physical Medicine — To evaluate the rehabilitative needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. Physical Therapy — To evaluate and treat physical disabilities that impair gross motor skills, ambulation, gait, strength and balance. Occupational Therapy — To evaluate and treat physical and cognitive disabilities that impair fine motor, perceptual motor and sensory motor skills. Speech-Language Pathology — To evaluate and treat disorders related to speech, language, swallowing, fluency, voice and communication. Psychological Counseling — (including individual, group, and sexuality counseling) — To provide counseling to individuals in need of emotional or behavioral support. Social Work Counseling — (including individual and group counseling) — To provide counseling to individuals in need of emotional and behavioral support. Psychiatry Services — To evaluate and provide medication management and counseling to dully diagnosed individuals in need of mental health support. Rehabilitation Counseling — To provide counseling to individuals to develop and maintain personal, career and independent living skills. Nutritional Counseling — To provide support to individuals to develop and maintain healthy eating habits, special diets and weight management. Evaluations — (Psychological, Psycho-social, and Sexuality Consent evaluations) — to determine eligibility for services and ability to consent.
